Contrails mitigation is possibly the biggest opportunity in climate that almost no one has heard of. It’s something as rare as a cheap and easy climate solution that can eliminate about 1% of global warming within a short period of time.
About Blue Lines:
Blue Lines’ mission is to accelerate the implementation of contrails management worldwide.
We help decision-makers understand the significant climate impact of contrails and the easy, cheap, and available solution that needs to be implemented to manage contrails and eliminate about 1% of global warming.
We envision a near future where everyone in the aviation industry will easily manage contrails to lower the global temperature and slow climate change. 🌎
CO2 from aircraft engine emissions has a very low climate impact, but it lasts for centuries, while the climate impact of condensation trails is very high but only lasts a few hours. If we eliminate most warming contrails, we will, therefore, be cooling down the planet almost instantly, which we desperately need to limit global warming to 1.5 C or well below 2.0 C, according to the 2015 Paris Agreement.
Who we are:
Blue Lines was founded on Earth Day 2023 by Joachim Majholm, a former media executive and serial entrepreneur from Denmark who currently lives in California.
In 2022, Joachim worked as a communications consultant for a group of contrail management engineers and was utterly amazed to learn of the immense climate opportunity that contrail mitigation is. He was also surprised how few people had ever heard about contrails' climate impact.
So, in 2023, he created Blue Lines. Read more about his motives in this September 2023 Substack post: “How I got involved in contrails management – and why I believe it’s one of the biggest opportunities in climate.”
